Johnny L. Matson, Ph.D, Professor, Department of Psychology

Research Interests:
My research on aging deals with developmentally disabled older persons. I have been doing research on the side effects of antipsychotic drugs which are frequently used with this population and with seizure drug side effects which are also a problem in this group. I have developed scales to assess these effects and to look at parameters of those persons most likely and least likely to develop side effects. We are also looking at different classes of antipsychotic and seizure drugs to determine which drugs produce what side effects and at what rate.
